About Yoga, Tai Chi and Meditation

Tai Chi is a gentle art. The form, which is a long series of moves, is a fundamental exercise of the art typically practised slowly, the aim being to soften the movements and to keep the body and the mind flowing in harmony from beginning to end. Tai Chi exercises the body at a very deep level, strengthening and stretching tendons and ligaments rather than the larger muscle groups.

The word yoga comes from Sanskrit, an ancient Indian  language. It is a derivation of the word yuj, which means yoking, as in a team of oxen. In contemporary  practice, this is often interpreted as meaning union. Yo-ga is said to be for the purpose of uniting the mind, body, and spirit.

Traditional Buddhist Meditation. From the Theravada school of Buddhism. The stresses and strains of our life aren’t easy. We exmaine the abilkity to notice the influence of mind and to slowly realise that all of our challenge in life emerges from mind. Soften and yield the mind and the challenge lessons. We need to learn to make time for ourselves, time for our minds to settle and sort out the things that are important to us and to develop deep compassion towards ourselves, the people around us and the world we live in.

During this retreat, we explore the synergy between all 3 of these ancient disciplines.
